H4.1 Oposicion Contrapuesta / Opposition opposite (AAR) (AAR)

Ordena poner rumbo 225º a 12 nudos.

Pone rumbo 090 a 5 nudos.

Kafete, mientras sigue a profundidad.

Okay, here goes another new member of the AARs of Harpoon4.1, courtesy of a served
In this scenario, realized in the Alboran Sea, south of the Iberian peninsula area of operations as a 50x50 square nautical miles, with magnificent environmental conditions, and a force 4, sea state, without thermal layer sea and deeper than 1500 meters (The Alboran Sea has an average of 2200 meters). the top left corner of this square is centered on E 38:35.00 N 0:78.00

Two players, Kafete and Breaker, face the Spanish navy units in a training scenario ASW (Anti Dip Warfare, Anti-Submarine Warfare), to test the capabilities of their respective platforms.
Units encountered:
(Breaker) F-101 Frigate FFG Albaro de Bazan, one of the most modern frigates of the Spanish navy arsenal, we can say that the only AEGIS frigate (name of the radar system) in the world, currently has a helicopter HS.23, a U.S. SH-60 Seahawk, a large anti-submarine helicopter and anti-surface.
(Kafete) Submarine S-74 Tramontana, Galerna class, based on French submarines of the Agosta class. The most modern available for Spanish submarine force, to launch and entry into service of the future S-80A, currently under construction.

Mission:
The fighting began two units on opposite sides of the map, East to West, it aims to "sink" to the contrary (simulated weapon is used).

Initial Positions:
The F-100 and HS.23 38:34.7105 N 1:50.5624 E in The S-74 37:44.9458 N 0:46.8000 E
Initial Orders Breaker put the helicopter on alert +15 (to take off in 15 minutes) armed with two Mk-46 torpedoes Mod5AS Torp, to be on alert +15, crew rest. In addition to the torpedoes, sonobuoys the helicopter can carry, these are small buoys with hydrophones and translators that allow the detection of submerged submarines can carry 25 of them, choose the following configuration: 4 DICASS SSQ-62, 7 DIFAR SSQ-53, 14 SSQ-50 CASS. Turn on all aerial and surface radar, these are the SPY-1D, SPS-67 and SPS-73. Turns You DE1160LF its hull sonar and towed sonar ATAS, puts them in active mode for 12 minutes and 6 minutes Passau. Sort direction to 225 º at 12 knots.

Kafete meanwhile, ordered 14 meters depth, remove the masts of ES (Electronic Emission Detector, the ESM for connoisseurs), the Snorkel and the periscope. It intends to charge the batteries from the ship, until they are 100%, if you find something for the ESM or the Periscope, is immersed. To charge his batteries, the S-74 sailed with their diesel engines running, but moving at less than 50% of its maximum speed, to maximize the load, so in one hour, 10% charge the battery without load. Also, all active sonars, both DUU2A hull sonar, DUU2B, DSUV22 and DUUX2, also deploy and activate your SOLARSUB towed sonar, leaving them all in passive mode to detect any physical contact. Sets direction 090-5 knots.

Exercise Plotting:
0800L: Both players start the exercise. By a stroke of luck kafete submarine sonar detects the F-101 to more than 60 miles away. In contrast, the F-101 can not be detected because their velocity and curvature of the earth prevents mast detect S-74, by their own radars.

0900L: The S-74, get all your battery charge, in addition to maintaining contact ring of the F-101, decided to reduce speed to two knots, decreasing to 300 metors and course 133, with all its torpedoes loaded in the torpedo tubes .

1000L: Breaker decides to increase the speed to 14 knots, keeping his helmet on passive sonar and active drag. Kafete, while still at depth.

1100L: Kafete up to 14 meters, to a periscope depth, takes out the periscope and mast, detecting radars ground breaking. Then re-dipping. Breaker does not detect Due to the curvature of the earth.

1200L: Kafete decided to head 120 and speed to 5 knots for the best solution for their firing torpedoes. Breaker keeps moving in the same direction. At this point, the distance between the two units has been reduced to 13.63 nautical miles (100 167 º F-vs S-74 347 º)

1233L: TMA once got a "good" shooting the best solution possible, kafete gives orders to fire two torpedoes mod2 F-17 F-101 against the breaker, they travel at low speed, 22 knots, in passive mode, until they are close enough to the F-101, which will be activated from the submarine with a cable that connects the submarine torpedoes, switching to active mode, and accelerating to 40 knots, if torpedoes don't hit
your target, will rotated 180 degrees at the target to attack again and again, until either guide wire broken or ran out of fuel or impact. To avoid any attempt to be detected after launch, kafete ordered the ship to turn 90 degrees to port to put distance between the F-101 and S-74 and have another good shooting position if the two fish don't hit.

1251L:
Two F-17 speed and pass mod2 activity launched against the breaker ship. The sonar of the F-101 are detected them. Breaker orders accelerate to 20 knots and turn 322 º, making evasive maneuvers and torpedo countermeasures deployed.

0100L:
A F-17 mod2 Torpedo hits the F-101, causing damage "simulated" serious flooding throughout the ship, to make them unstoppable, leaving out of one of the sonar and creating a small fire on board. Due to all these secondary damage, the ship is impossible to save, and is given by sunken, simulated talking. Computers on the S-74 indicate an impact.

At this point, given the exercise ended with the victory of the S-74 submarine.

As a comment, I would say that the order to keep the HS.23 aboard the F-101 without being displayed, just waiting to detect a submarine to take off and use their sonar and sonobuoys to detect Calabre seemed to me the way I see , reckless and very capable a platform underused in my view, I had placed at low altitude, about 10 to 15 miles ahead of the F-100 with all connected and launching sonobuoys radars every 5 miles to detect any sub. Kafete's performance was brilliant, as the F-101 came to their networks without any esferzo, but when the S-74 did not know the position of this at the beginning of the game, or as little of their course and speed until she was less than 20 miles of it.
